Frequently Asked Questions

Are all Mojo Vans self-contained?

Due to the Self-Contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023 currently in motion, as it stands our vans will no longer be Certified Self-Contained from December 7, 2024 onwards. We are monitoring the situation with the government and are evaluating the possibility of making our vans self-contained by December. We will continue to make updates to our website as we receive more information. Read more on the freedom camping changes here.

Can I still camp with a non certified self-contained Van?

Yes! You are still able to camp with a Mojo Sleepervan or Campervan if you stay on any commercial/DOC campsites, or on private land.

Payment Options

  • Credit Card

If you choose to pay via credit card, a 3% surcharge will apply. For credit card payments, a deposit of 25% will be charged when we confirm your booking. The remainder will be charged 45 days prior to the pick up date.

  • Bank Transfer

Most hire companies only offer credit card payments, which always include a surcharge by the payment provider. We're happy to also offer bank transfer as payment option to our guests.
Once you've completed the checkout online, we will confirm your reservation and send you an invoice. Please note: If you choose to pay via invoice, the FULL rental amount is due within 3 business days.

We recommend using wise.com for international bank transfers, as they offer very low fees for transfering money internationally.

If you choose to pay via bank transfer, you can still enter your credit card details for the Bond charge (= security deposit) in the last step of the checkout. The Bond will be authorised on the day you pick up your Campervan.

how does the bond authorisation work?

Your bond amount depends on which insurance option you choose.

Our standard comprehensive insurance option, included in every hire, has an excess of $2000.

The bond will be held by your bank and will show as a "pending" transaction of $2000 on your credit card during your hire. When you return the campervan, as per our Terms & Conditions (no damage, clean, full tank of fuel), we will release the bond within 24 hours and your bank will remove the pending transaction within 7 days.

We also have excess/bond reduction options available, which you can choose during the checkout process, please visit our Insurance Info Page to learn more.

When does the bond get authorised on my credit card?

We will authorise the bond, which is equivalent to your insurance excess, when you come to pick up the campervan.

When does the bond get released?

Your bank will remove the pending transaction within 7 days after your dropped of the campervan.

Can I leave my car at your depot?

Yes, you can! At an additional $7 per calendar day you can leave your car at our depot facility. Our yard is fully fenced, has security cameras and the gate will be locked overnight.

Can I bring my dog along?

Absolutely! We have a ‘bring your cat, dog or parrot’ add-on option at checkout, so you can bring your furry companion along for the adventure.

What size is the bed?

All of our Sleepervans come in a comfortable, almost queen size length of 195cm, the bed is 135cm wide. The Mojo Campervan is equipped with a queen size air mattress.

HOW long does the house battery last?

If you didn’t book one of our Vans with Solar Panel, the second battery in all our Sleepervans and Campervans charges only while you are driving. Generally speaking, 1-2 days usage without driving (recharging) shouldn’t be a problem, but it really depends on various factors, such as the temperature outside (how much power the fridge draws) and how you use the appliances (pump).

All the appliances will also work when the car’s engine is running, even if the second battery ran out of power.

The fairy lights on the ceiling are AA battery driven, they work independently from the second battery.

If you booked one of our Vans with Solar Panel, your battery will last much longer. However, you’ll need sunshine for the Panel to recharge and power usage isn’t unlimited, even with a Solar Panel.

If you booked one of our Campervans that plugs into a powered campsite, all the appliances will work unlimited, when you’re “plugged in”.

can i pick up/drop off the van in a different city?

Yes, depending on availability. For an extra fee, we can drop off your van ready to drive from Auckland Airport. We also offer some drop offs/pick ups in Christchurch on selected van models. Contact us directly for more information.
